Thanksgiving is that one time of year where everyone becomes an expert on gravy making and we are all divided on the age old debate on lumpy vs smooth mashed potatoes…. I, of course, am team lumpy. How can you not love lumpy mash? One spoonful of my grandmother ‘s famous roasted garlic mash leaves us all banishing vampires for at least a 50 mile radius, making it the star attraction of the table, even surpassing the fabulous Turkey my mother makes every year. But this year, we are going small and having our own Family Thanksgiving while my family feasts and celebrates a thousand miles from our traditional Thanksgiving dinner table. Not going home for the celebration leaves me with the dilemma of how much is too much food for a family of 5? And what on Earth am I going to do with all the left overs? Regardless, I am going all out, hoping that the I can somehow pull off my grandmother’s recipe for garlic mash and serve up a roast turkey as well as my mother does….wish me luck!
While the food is always the star attraction at any Thanksgiving table, one thing rings true; it is the people you share your feast with that make the moment, that create the memories and live with you long after you polish off that final piece of pie days later. To celebrate my love of Thanksgiving, I have teamed up with the Idaho Potato Commission to host a #FamilyThanksgiving pinning party, full of pins that inspire family activities, fabulous recipes, stunning decor and inspiration for creating your own perfect family thanksgiving.
